WHAT IS THE CULTURAL EMBASSY?
Embaixada Cultural is a cultural organization dedicated on empowering artists and cultural activists from the Global South through art and educational exchange projects and trainings. Our actions also involve artist residences, management and consultancy of artists.
A network of people, activists and artists dedicated in cultural activism and diplomacy. We believe that cultural exchange and acknowledgment of cultural diversities can lead to greater tolerance, political solutions, more creative artistic results and finally bring humanity under one umbrella. We focus on cultural exchange by promoting and organizing shows for musicians from Brazil, mainly. Moreover, together with our partner organizations we work on projects focused on education, traditional and contemporary culture and arts with the aim to bring people a better understanding of “the other” and of the world, overall.
O QUE É A EMBAIXADA CULTURAL?
A Embaixada Cultural é uma organização cultural dedicada ao empoderamento de artistas e ativistas culturais do Sul Global através de projetos de intercâmbio artísticos e de formação. É formada por um grupo de pessoas, ativistas e artistas dedicados ao ativismo e à diplomacia cultural. A Embaixada acredita que o intercâmbio cultural entre países e o reconhecimento da diversidade cultural pode levar a uma maior compreensão da diferença, a soluções políticas, resultados artísticos mais criativos e promover a o direito à cultura como um direito humano. Os trabalhos são concentrados em intercâmbio cultural, através da promoção e circulação de artistas de Minas Gerais e do Brasil em shows, residências artísticas, vivências e demais projetos pelo mundo que configurem trocas culturais internacionais. Além disso, juntamente com organizações parceiras, existem também os projetos com foco em educação, cultura tradicional e contemporânea e artes com o objetivo de levar às pessoas uma melhor compreensão do “outro” e do mundo.
WHO IS THE CULTURAL EMBASSY?
The Cultural Embassy is initiated by three independent individuals bounded with the passion for cultural engagement and participation. Thus, the moving force of the network is our strong cooperation with the partner organizations,artists and activists and activists.
Francisco Cereno was the coordinator of international affairs at Program Musica Minas, a state-run program which support international promotion of local artists. Later, he worked as a curator at the same program. His cultural activism and dedication in the area of arts and music is reflected through the job done in the network Embaixada Cultural. Now he is working on the consolidation of the MM, the first International Music Meeting of Minas Gerais State, in Brazil. At Embaixada Cultural He is in charge of exchange projects, developing an international network to support young professionals to work in music festivals around the world.
Gabriel Murilo is a cultural manager, musician, activist and researcher on the brazilian independent music market. He coordinated Programa Musica Minas, a public fund for artists for international promotion and tours all over the world. At Embaixada Cultural he coordinates artistic residence projects and training programs for international cultural cooperation. He is one of the directors of the international music meeting and festival MM – Musica Mundo. Gabriel also has a Master degree in Music and Culture / Ethnomusicology through the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
Julijana Nicha is a researcher in the area of cultural public policy and idenity, particularly in the relationships among artists, think tanks and governments. Her geographical focus is on European Union, East Europe and Brazil.
